As many of you know, I’m a heart mom. The day Jace had his first surgery, I became a heart mom. What that means is that I’ve spent a lot of time standing by a bedside, a lot of time talking to doctors, a lot of time crying and a lot of time praying.
Thankfully, around the same time that I became a heart mom, I also became a mental wellness mom. I’m so thankful that this mental wellness mission found me and gave me a natural option when I was told I was the perfect candidate for postpartum depression.
This mental wellness movement has not only opened my eyes to my own mental health, but I see the financial opportunity our company offers as being the vehicle to financial freedom and the ability to turn my pain into purpose.
I want to help not only other heart moms, but parents of kids in hospitals. As caregivers, the focus is on our children and often we forget that we need support as well. I believe being a parent is the most sacred and important job, and it calls for superhero strength.
Being a caregiver of a child in the hospital calls for an extra dose of superhero strength. This group of caregivers need support and love poured into them just as quickly as they are pouring it out.
I’m a part of a facebook group of heart moms, and some of the posts are heart breaking. I see that these caregivers are empty and trying their best to do it all, when in reality they need to be filled up themselves.
One of the core values of my company is service. I’m so honored to be partnered with a company who encourages us to pay it forward, to turn our pain into purpose.
I want to start a foundation for heart moms and dads. A safe place for them to receive encouragement, mental health resources and help with other practical needs they may have during such a stressful time.
Being a caregiver to a child with higher needs is an amazing gift. We are able to have a front row seat to the bravery and resilience these children possess. It can also be a really hard job and it’s so critical to take care of ourselves so that we can be our best for those who need us most.
