Freedom

In light of the Fourth of July holiday we just celebrated, I wanted to share a story about Jace. Before we even knew he was Jace.

We had just found out that our baby had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. We were fortunate to be able to spend some time with our good friends the week after we received this hard news.

My friend told me that she had been praying the past week for us and the baby and one day as she prayed, a picture came into her head. She pictured me, holding a little baby in my arms, and the baby was wrapped in an American flag.

At first, she didn’t know what the significance was of the flag, but then it was clear to her. Freedom. This baby will be free. Free from anything holding him/her back, and free in Jesus.

Her husband also shared that he sees Kylan and I as brave people (I don’t feel like that some days!) and that this baby will live in the “home of the brave.”

I wanted to share this with you all because I can already see that Jace is free. Free from any labels of illness and free from any fear that I may have as he gets older. Free to be a busy boy who falls down and gets dirty. Free to try new things and free to have adventures. His spirit is so free, so happy and brave.

I pray that one day he decides to follow Jesus and see that he can live in complete freedom. Freedom from guilt, from sickness, or from sin.

“So if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed.” John 8:36
