Adjusting to life at home

Coming home from the hospital after our son’s open heart surgery, it’s great to be home but it is also challenging. We feel like we are bringing home a newborn again, with different meds, different routine, etc. In the hospital, our son has 24/7 nurses and doctors and constant monitoring. Then we come home and he is completely in our care. Jace has a completely different heart too & he is trying to get used to his new circulation. I’m amazed by his resilience and his happy attitude. It is unbelievable that he had open heart surgery almost 2 weeks ago and he isn’t on any pain meds. He isn’t quite back to his normal activities, but he is moving a lot and wants to play. It won’t be long I’m sure before he is rolling and jumping again.
